Overview

Swat valley and its majestic mountains are located among the foothills of the Hindukush Mountain range. It is famous for its diverse landscapes and natural wildlife, along with numerous scenic country sides, lush green forests and impressive high peak mountains. The freshwater lakes, rivers, springs, waterfalls, and the pleasant weather, collectively, makes it a safe haven for tourism in Pakistan. While you’re in Swat, you can hike, trek, walk and meditate in the valleys and places nearby.

Along the upper swat is a beautiful valley, known as Kalam, famous for its lakes, waterfalls and greenery. The Ushu and Utrot rivers meet in Kalam, to form the Swat River. For about 2 hours of adventurous jeep ride, comes the stunning Mahodand Lake, surrounded by meadows, mountains and dense forests. It is famous for fishing and boating in colorful wooden boats.

Malam Jabba is one of the most beautiful valleys in the area of Swat. It is 871 feet above the sea level, and approximately 314 km away from Islamabad. It is situated on the top of Hindukush Mountain range. The Malam Jabba Ski Resort is owned by the Pakistani Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). The Ski Resort was a joint effort of Pakistani government and its Austrian counterpart. It has a ski slope of about 800m with the highest point of the slope 2804m (9200 feet) above sea level. Recreational activities include roller/ice-skating, chair lifts and skiing platforms. Inside the Malam Jabba resort, the facility of indoor games and other ice games are also available. One of the undiscovered places in Malam Jabba is the Green Valley, where one can also venture out to enjoy sports activities and camping.

Kalam is 29 km away from Bahrain, a hill station where Daral and Swat rivers meet. Bahrain is known for its mosques and buildings, and the surrounding area has beautiful valleys which are suitable for hiking.

Swat Valley contains number of monasteries and Buddhist sites, some are said to be 3000 years old. In Mingora, the sites are dated back to 1000BC and knows as Butkara I and Butkara II. Many Buddhist remains and carvings have been found around Jambil Valley near Mingora. A little outside Mingora, in a small village of Mangalwar, miles up the valley, a rock relief of sitting Buddha. It is some thirteen feet high carving on the vertical face of a rock, locally known as Shakorai Buddha.

Some 15 kilometers drive from Mingora, you will reach at White Palace which was built in 1940 by the first king of Swat, in the small village of Marghzar. Built with white marble, it is a tourist spot and also serves as a hotel.

Malam Jabba is one of the most beautiful resorts in the area of Swat. It is 871 feet above the sea level, and approximately 314 km away from Islamabad. It is situated on the top of Hindukush Mountain range, in the Northeast of Saidu Sharif (the capital of Swat valley). The Malam Jabba Ski Resort is owned by the Pakistani Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). The Ski Resort was a joint effort of Pakistani government and its Austrian counterpart. It has a ski slope of about 800m with the highest point of the slope 2804m (9200 feet) above sea level. Recreational activities include roller/ice-skating rinks, chair lifts and skiing platforms. 

 

Two stations at Malam Jabba provide the facility of chair lift for tourists for their enjoyment. This chair lift can elevate approximately 56 passengers at a time to the height of 10500 feet. Inside the Malam Jabba resort, the facility of indoor games and other ice games are also available.
